An Information and Guidance Centre was inaugurated in Jafar Nagar area of West Nagpur recently for the benefit of students from minority community aspiring to appear in competitive examinations. The centre was launched at the hands of the prominent Industrialist, Syed Faiyaz Hussain, Chairman, Dulocos Conveyors and Moulds Pvt. Ltd. S W Naqwi, Ex Principal Chief Conservation of Forest and M.I.Shaikh, Retired Executive Director of VIDC and several other dignitaries including Government Officials, NGO representatives and activists were present on the occasion.
Prominent Muslim intellectuals of the city including retired senior functionaries from government, judiciary, public sector and faculty of educational institutions and professionals are associated with this unique initiative. Explaining the concept Abdul Rauf Shaikh, Retired Dy. Commissioner and Chief Coordinator of programme said that there was a long standing need felt by student, in the under privileged section for a permanent ‘single window’ guidance and facilitation centre in the city which they could approach for guidance on government schemes, various private and govt. Scholarships, career opportunities through UPSC/MPSC and other competitive examination opportunities through skill development, training and jobs etc.
The concept is a brainchild of Centre for Social Research and Empowerment, a body of few caring friend of Nagpur city which includes senior retired officials of State and Central govt. Afroz Jahan Memorial Trust, Amravati is a philanthropic partner in this project. It is providing both financial and infrastructural support. The Centre is located at Raza Apartment, Opposite Masjid Walidain, Rajaram Layout, Near Shyam Lawn, Jafar Nagar, Nagpur-13. The centre will be open from 11 am to 2 pm during the day and from 6 to 9 pm in the evening where retired personnel from various sectors would be providing guidance.
